My central vacuum system is installed. Wow, what a treat! That thing
makes short work of cat hair and pine needles and I should have done
it sooner. Thanks to all of you for your suggestions when I was
shopping the systems. I ended up with the Dirt Devil and am mighty
pleased with it.

I installed it into an inner cabinet in the bedroom and still need to
install a vent into the side of the cabinet (now, I just leave the
cabinet door open when it's running. I'm also going to put a shelf
above it for the tool storage and put up a hanger for the hose nearby.
The hose easily reaches to the dashboard while stretched out so it's
plenty long enough for the RV.

One thing I don't like is the way it turns on and off. When you open
the door to plug in the hose the unit turns on automatically. That's
OK but when you unplug the hose and close the door the unit shuts off.
But, while it's still cycling down, it's trying to suck air but can't
because the door is closed. Just doesn't seem like that's a good thing
for the long term health of the unit so I'm going to install a switch
right by the inlet. I just need to be careful of the type of switch I
use or one of the damn cats'll be firing off the vacuum cleaner in the
bedroom at 2 AM.

Don't waste your time installing a switch, my home Sears unit works exactly
the same way and it has been doing it for over 30 years. When you close the
door the motor is off so there is no strain on it trying to suck a vacuum.
