Re: Advice on music downloads

Advice, please: I'm a newbie at downloading music files and need some
direction.

I'm not interested in illegal file-sharing or any form of copyright
violation -- I'm perfectly willing and able to pay for the music. I just
want to know the best site/s for downloading.

I also don't know the differences between the types of music files and
their uses, and a brief explanation would be appreciated.

My ultimate intent is to make several "best of traveling music" CDs for
RV trips (that'll keep this post ON topic, but it's also true <g>).

Here's a site to grab a bunch of tunes easily. Not real hifi sound,
but fine for car speaker and those of us who've lost a bit of high
frequency in our hearing. <g>

This is a 'streaming' site which plays tunes from the selected jukebox
at random. To capture the tunes, use Internet Explorer since all
the mp3 files wind up in the Temporary Internet Files folder.

Fire up IE and go:
Tools > Internet Options > and under the Temporary Internet Files
label, click Delete Cookies and Delete Files. Then click Settings
and then click View Files. this is the Temporary Internet Files
folder and will be empty. This is where the tunes (mp3 files) will
be stored after you listen to them at this website:

http://www.tropicalglen.com/

Now since the tunes are played in random order, you gotta let
it play for MANY hours to get all one hundred of a given year.
So let it play overnight and the tunes will wind up in the TIF
folder. Then you go to the TIF folder and 'drag' the mp3 files
you want to your desk top or a folder of your choice.

I've captured all the top 100 songs from '55 thru '80 this way.
copy em all or the ones you want and put em on a mp3
dvd or a USB stick. Then play em on the road. This assumes
you have a vehicle capable of playing this media. Older car
cd players only play *audio* cds which only hold 12-25 tunes
depending on length. Around 70 minutes per audio cd.
mp3 cds will play for many hours.

have fun,
Leroy
