Thanks for the information, That pretty much covers any question
I
might have. One more thing- It seems to me that using the phone
as
a modem would be a little more secure than using wifi hot spots
Yes?
Verizon seems to be the best deal for useage without using a hot
spot? I have done some reading and Verizon says you can use it
[laptop with built in card] anywhere that that a phone has
coverage. That eliminates the need for using the phone as a modem
[as I understand it] also the need for finding a hot spot I
assume.
So now it's time for me to do my homework on laptops, 802 cards n
cards and the like, services, speeds, and related costs, ect.
Well
thanks again and bye, Tom A
Just an aside for you, I know you mentioned bill paying in the
subject, but you also mentioned wireless internet... and in other
messages you mentioned you had a cable isp at home... Any desire to
use email or news while you are on the go? There are some
cable/dsl/dialup/etc companies out there that only allow you to
access their email and news servers if you are on their network (ie
at home), and not by dialup or hotspot or aircard/phone... Hate to
see you get sucked into a contract and find out you can only do
half
of what you want....
Charter/Suddenlink was of that ilk and that is why I have a cheap
Netscape account. Used the Suddenlink POP3 server for incoming and
the Netscape SMTP for outgoing since they don't care who the carrier
is as long as you have the proper credentials to sign into their
server.
Earthlink changed there connections to allow customers to send and
recieve from any provider AS LONG AS you read and follow the
instructions on how to access from another porvider. It's double
password protected and different paths for secure link.
Tom J
who sends & recieves from other providers all the time!!
Never had Earthlink so I cannot speak to it but I know that Charter/
Suddenlink cable service required you to be on their network to send
mail. That is why I picked up Netscape.
