Okaayy. The first van entry. 2005 might work. Looks good.
Though I'd like to see the odometer before getting too cozy with
that thing. The rule on "new or almost new" was designed to get
something that might last a while without needing a rebuild. And
just because it's $50 K doesn't mean it's worth $50k.

Yep, the last time I was shopping one of my favorite rigs belonged to a
couple who was upside down on the financing. For some reason I never could
fathom they thought someone might bail them out by paying them what they
owed on the thing. They called it Beauty. It was a nice rig. But, not nice
enough that I could see any reason to pay $5k more than it was worth. OTOH
one of the nice thing about RVs is that if you're willing to take your time
and shop around there are some outstanding bargains out there.

A van is good for a small footprint. But maybe so would your
peanut + pickup, compared to my present 43 feet. Right now I
have to make a quick and questionable judgment every time I enter
a parking lot as to whether I'm ever gonna be able to get out of
there again.

Did you really feel the p&p was overly large?

For me it was the same sort of thing as you're talking about with the
43 foot of truck and fiver. Once you start looking at getting off the
highway you have to think about where you're going to go, what you're going
to do when you get there, and how you're getting back out. Even with a
little trailer, in big cities your first thought is still how am I getting
rid of this thing. With small motorhomes all I worry about is height
restrictions, otherwise the thing will park just about anywhere a big car
will. Maybe it's just me, but with a small motorhome I don't feel tied to
campgrounds, RV parks and places frequented by truckers.
