Comment or ignore, as you choose:
The issue of ownership of land strikes to the very core of human
occupation of the planet. Ownership has never been absolute. In
ancient Israel God Himself put limits on it in various ways. Even the
eternal grant of Canaan's land was conditional. A simpler example was
the requirement that the poor were to be permitted to glean leftover
grain from the owners' fields.
In modern times, all governments retain the right to dictate how a
landowner may or may not utilize property. Varying from one
nation/state to another, overlapping and restrictive regulations lead
some to conclude (with justification) that property ownership is a
myth - that owners are mere tenants who pay 'rents' (taxes) to the
government and get ejected if they don't comply with the landlord's
rules. Obviously some jurisdictions are more officious and
restrictive than others, but a wise man must sooner or later realize
that whatever "ownership" does mean in the context of real estate, it
does NOT mean you have unrestricted rights to do what you like with
it. Only nut-fringe anarchist/libertarian types claim to believe
government should have no say whatever, and of course
socialist/liberal statists think ALL use of land must be regulated.
The degree of government control over citizen use of land deeded to
him is an important measure of human freedom.
