It is time for me to replace them. What is the benefit to having two 6
volt and one 12 volt battery? In checking the cost of the 6 volt
batteries I am thinking of just running three 12 volt batteries and
cutting costs. What if any sacrifice is there to doing this?
or fail to take a charge?
Is the 12 volt battery the starting battery for the engine?
Are the two 6 volt batteries only used for the house 12 volt supply?
Let us know these things and we will help you with more specific
answers.

They are all coach batteries. They are not holding a charge for any
length of time.
The 6v are in parallel. The 12v is also in the same bank.
In general, all the batteries in the same system should be alike, so the 2 6 volts and 1 12 volt in the same system may be causing the problem, at least in part. If you want to change them the best way is with 6 volt golf cart batteries. Either two larger ones to fill the same space or 4 if you can get them in there. These are generally available everywhere and are not difficult to obtain when needed. Sam's Club carries them and other large batteries.
That said, I just replaced the two 12 volt batteries in my RV with two more 12 volts, from Wal*mart. One was bad, the other was still OK. I changed them both. They were just out of warranty and I opted for the full replacement. I treat them like an expense. Change them when needed. And buy them at Wal*mart because they have a good guarantee and are everywhere. But they are all alike.

I l-u-v WM batteries.. they get quite maligned here but I have always had great performance from them.
Question: [John or anybody] I have 3 12V deep cycle [big yellow WM] batteries as my coach set.. 2 Napa 12V bus/truck/tractor [not deep cycle] big ass batteries for the engine. I have a 4 way boat type manual switch for pak 1 [engine]/ pak 2 [house] /both or /off.. and a 60amp 'smart' converter.. All batteries and converter are brand new.. I would like to leave switch on "all" when on shore power so as to charge whole works, but wonder if these big batteries up front could do any harm to my coach batteries when all 5 seek to 'level-out'.. So right now I am switching from 1 then to 2 but never 'both'. Do you see any prob with switch being on both while on shore power? I need to recharge engine batteries as I have a 700 watt inverter that runs 24/7 off em for computer/printer/razor/cell phones/florescent light..
Been meaning to ask this for sometime.. thanks
