No, I haven't tried it - Just that Net Zero had set it up so you canDon is convinced that Skype won't work with Hughesnet. I don't like

So, what is left? I hate to lose my SD number.
arguing with Don because he has forgotten more about satellite
internet than I am ever likely to know but.....
I hope I haven't said that. I have said that "work" is a term with
various meanings when it comes to VoIP, and that with Skype there are
people for whom it has "worked" and those for whom it has not. What is
hard to tell is whether the difference was in expectations, or
variations in service.
When I first got my Direcway system (Jan '03) speeds were fast enough that my son and I chatted frequently with voice on MSN Messenger and I even bought a cheap web cam that worked on Messenger. Use was free.
Those with commercial speeds should be close to what I was getting then. I haven't tried it lately.

George, as far as transferring your existing number, the only software
VoIP company I know of that allows number transfer to them is
Net2Phone. They generally have a reputation of working reasonably well
with satellite, but are not used by as many as Skype and NZV because
they are more expensive.
Skype and Yahoo! Voice will allow you to select a different number in
most metro area codes.
