I think the or one of the actions that could be taken is to upgrade the suspension system to an air ride type of arrangement.
Mind you I was not always going eight over just some of the time, when the slabs were smoother. When you get into New Mexico and Arizona where the speed limit is 75 and the road surface is smooth, you can make good time.
Diesel topped $3. in some places, like Las Vegas where I fueled last.
Those 6% grade mountains were a snap for the Cumins and 48RE trans. Just put her in cruise at 5mph below where you want to descend at and it will drop down a gear when needed to keep the speed down, I don't think I need an exhaust brake like I thought.
Have a good time at the reunion and watch out for those friendly women.
We're still in Nebraska, enjoying the lake view and $8 camping.

Sounds a lot better than what I had some nights. First night I just pulled over at one of the Flying J spots and ran a fan. Next night I was in New Mexico and the Dancing Bird Casino RV spot $10. for the night, couldn't find who to pay but lost twice as much as that in their casino.
After three days at 600+ miles per day, I haven't recuperated enough to
enjoy any thing here, YET!
Bet you enjoyed those few cool nights that filtered all the way down this far south, I did any way.
