I've been reading all these posts about Senator Craig in the bathroom,
etc. etc. and the fact that the criticism is not necessarily about the
act and/or behavior but it is about hypocrisy i.e. the Republicans
preach family values, Christianity, and that they are good and
wonderful citizens, etc.
Then I read the responses from those on the Conservative side and all
they can do is parade out a litany of similar behaviors by Democrats
which does not address the gist of the post whatsoever. They seem to
be hung up on the behavior and comparing it to Democrats who have
exhibited the same behavior. It's like they simply don't get it that
it's not about the behavior. Why is this such a major mental obstacle
for them?
Is there any way to get this point across through those thick skulls
of the Republican responders? It's like they have their blinders on
and do not want to address the focus of the issue. All they want to
do is dredge up another historical event where a Democrat was bad.
Duh, how stupid. We all know the Democrats are bad boys; they have a
record of it and that's why they don't usually go around thumping a
Bible and saying how holy they are. They know they're bad but they
don't want to compound that by being hypocritica, a combination act
that seems to fit the Republicans quite well.
Sometimes it amazes me to what length people will bury their heads in
the sand just to avoid having to face the reality of a situation.
Instead they just mouth a prepared response which may or may not be
related specifically to the subject at hand and actually think that
what they print is a valid answer when, in fact, it's nothing more
than just prepared pap to avoid facing the real focus of the
situation. Sad.

Uh huh. I've been watching that behavior, especially here, for years. One can't mention anything about President Bush that is not in the published litany of the Republican National Committee without some of the usual tight-a..es spewing something about former President Clinton's pants. <g>
When people who can't think for themselves are faced with a negative fact about their icons, they become like little kids and the discussion becomes: "well yours is worse" They don't seem to have the ability to defend their icon's position with facts or discussion, so they just fling some crap and make themselves feel better about whom they have attached themselves to.
If it was about baseball players it would go something like this:
Poster A: Mickey Mantle was a drunk.
Poster B: Oh, yeah! Well Pete Rose was a gambler.
Silly, isn't it?
