Re: RORT Newgroup Data Rate per Month?

Thanks, John, but I'd be paying $10 a month, right? Bob Hatch uses astraweb paying $10 one time for 25 GB that doesn't expire. That is much cheaper.

I remember you complaining about godaddy. What was your beef and where did you go?

I can save about $30 or more dumping the static IP address and updating my DSL speed. Right now I have an antiquated DSL connection, static IP and I host my domains on my home computer. I like that but it is expensive.

I can still get back home (from the motorhome, folks, this is directly on topic) if I set up a utility that checks the dynamic home IP address every three minutes then tells a page on my then externally hosted domain, say it lives at 1&1. From the box (the motorhome) I can call www.wolfswords.com, ask for the page that tells me what my home IP address is. That's pretty cool. I can then still see the cameras, turn stuff on and off and do other cool things from the box in the boonies.

But with my static IP I can host my site here at home. I like that. I don't really want to fool with a dynamic DNS service.

Hmmmmmmmm ...

I doubt that it would use even half a gig, especially if you have a good set of

I highly recommend Giganews. Their smallest account will be more than enough. I've
never had even the smallest burp from that service. It's the only service that I've
ever used on the net that caused me essentially no problems. My only minor complaint
is that they have an IP filter that's too aggressive. It attempts to keep people
from sharing accounts. If you're on a weak connection such as cellphone and lose the
connection, when DHCP assigns you a new IP when you re-connect, you'll not be able to
access Giganews for about 15 minutes.
