Hi, all
I'm going to go look at a 1984 Shasta (supposedly) in good shape. I'm a
complete novice at this and would appreciate and advice as to what to
specifically look (out) for.
This would be used for an occasional (6-8/yr.) trip both sightseeing and
visiting children and grandchildren (1700 and 3500 mi).
Thank you in advance for any advice you can give me.
Shasta is a good trailer. This one is 24 years old now. What would
you look for when buying a 24 year old house, or auto?
Look at the roof, the sides, and underneath. Look for roof dents and
rusted underbelly. Look for loose and/or frayed wiring. Tires
probably need to be replaced. Wheel bearings need to be repacked.
Does it have a/c ? Does the a/c work? Look for signs of water leaks
on the walls, around the windows, and check out all the flooring.
Check to see if all the appliances work. INside and outside
lighting. Brake, stop and clearance lights. Check the license
plate. If it has been setting for several years, what the dealers
call "lot rot" will degrade a travel trailer pretty quickly.
