Ya' know, if it wasn't for you quoting his drivel I wouldn't be seeing any of it. So from where I sit your bickering with the old fool also contibutes to dragging down the conversation, and makes me wonder about your mental state as well. He has nothing to say and loads of time to prove this central fact of his life. He's operating at the level of a child who figures that even negative attention is better than being ignored. Reading your half of the converstion is like watching a couple of small children endlessly saying, "did not, did too, did not..................................."
