The terrain at Pictured Rocks is easy (unless you want to climb the sand dunes on the east end.) Near the lake, the weather will be cooler, especially if the wind is on shore.

I believe that there are laws in Michigan against walking a dog, even one on a leash, anywhere near the shore of Lake Superior. You might want to check on that.

Back in the early 90's, we were staying in a privately owned commercial campground on the shores of Lake Superior. I was walking my mini Poodle on his leash about 100 feet from the lake shore. The manager came at me with some unkind language and insisted I carry the dog off the beach. I would hate to have to carry a Lab that far.
