I've a new Vista laptop, a Toshiba U205-S5067 that I am thrilled with. I
wasn't really ready to buy but the price was excellent (Amazon.com). For
what I was going to pay for a Sony ultraportable I could get two or three
Toshibas. My history with Toshiba has been excellent, they are well built
and easy to fix if they break. They don't break often. I wanted an
ultraportable laptop to use in a particular application. I've ported
everything over and haven't opened my larger laptop. It is now my main
machine.
My Vista experience is that everything works except for PCAnywhere (version
12.1 is due out) and the PDF applications for my tiny optical scanner (they
are working on their applications but it is TWAIN so I can use whatever I
have available). I do have two compatibility issues over hundreds of
applications. Big deal. Fixes are on their way.
Operationally, Vista has been rock solid. I would have had to install it
over XP at some point. Why do that when you can get it native.
