OT: Driving Pet Peeves

I'm not saying I'm the best driver on the road and I'm sure I do some
things that might upset someone but here are MY driving pet peeves.
Maybe you share some of these.

1--The "left lane bandit." Despite the multiple and numerous signs
along the way that say "Slower Traffic Keep Right" and "Keep Right
Except To Pass," there's always that person who cannot seem to read
and claims the left lane exclusively for his/her own. Often this is
done at a speed approximately ONE mph faster than the car to their
right they are "passing" and the "pass" can sometimes take 5 or 6
minutes while 50 mph gridlock develops behind them. Or maybe they are
going to make a left turn 8 or 10 miles down the highway and they want
to make certain they're in the proper lane to do so.

2--The "intersection blocker." Despite seeing traffic on the side
street both to the left and right who need to cross the intersection,
this person figures that it will be a huge advatage for the next stop
light if he/she can travel that extra 30-50 feet before waiting on the
red light up ahead. Of course, possessing no depth perception or
concept of distance, when they do so the ass end of their car blocks
the cross traffic and the poor souls on the side street can only hope
that the next opportunity to cross will feature a driver with a brain
larger than a walnut not blocking the way.

3--The "parking lights" driver. If I understand correctly, the small
lights by the headlights called "parking lights" were designed so that
when one is "parked" (hence the name parking lights) at the side of
the road passing traffic could see the vehicle without the vehicles
headlights perhaps blinding oncomong traffic. An excellent idea for a
visibility tool when one is stopped. However, when one is "driving,"
the proper usage there are the headlights which were designed for
driving. Yet there are some still unfamiliar with the English
language who think that "parking" is moving down the road at highway
speeds and therefore they use their parking lights instead of their
headlights.

4--The "I can't wait to turn until you pass" moron. This is perhaps
the most dangerous road psycho of them all. You are at a 4-way stop
intersection. It is your turn to proceed so you begin a properly
signaled left turn. As you are in the process of completing the turn
you notice that the car waiting on your left starts to proceed
straight ahead right toward your driver's door, timing his advance
based upon your projected speed in his faulty mind. Of course, if you
have to suddenly stop for anything in the roadway, he will basically
plow into the side of your car and perhaps kill you. So instead of
properly not moving an inch until you have totally completed your
turn, his sense of urgency and lack of brain matter has perhaps put
you in grave danger. (If there was ever a satisfactory reason for .
357 road rage, I believe this would qualify).

5--The "I refuse to pass no matter what" drone. They tailgate you for
miles. You come to a nice flat, open stretch of road where there is
about 2 miles to pass without oncoming traffic. You slow down, you
wave them around, you even pull over on the shoulder or stop dead in
the road. NOTHING can get them to press the little thing on the floor
and go around you. They are in LOVE with your rear bumper.

I'm gettin' steamed just thinking about some of these fools I've
encountered. Hope you haven't met up with any of them.
