Re: OT: Retraction and apology

The problem in Iraq seems to be us. By us using Iraq as a battlefield in our war against terrorists, we are perpetuating the split between the two groups.

_The_ problem? I think not. If we pull out, the extremists will be dancing in the streets, in the blood of all who have helped us. Then they will be in control of the oil, and nearly unlimited funds.

If we had proper planning of the war, including enough troops to maintain order, plus a recognition of the possible insurgent action we may be a lot further in this nation building experiment.

If only. If only. If only. It's really easy, with hindsight, to see what didn't work. When dealing with an intelligent enemy, the rules of the engagement keep changing.

Why is it that the same fools who proclaimed in advance that body bags would be coming home by the 10s of thousands, are screaming bloody murder about the "failure" in Iraq because we have lost less than 3,000 in 4 years?

One incurable flaming idiot even posted right here for all to see that the Iraqi people, who risked death by voting and then went into the streets waving their purple fingers for all to see, don't want to be free. That wasn't you, Hugh, but IMHO pretending that you know how the war in Iraq SHOULD have been managed is nearly as outrageous. No matter HOW we manage it, every move causes counter moves by the enemy. Had we managed it different, they would have reacted different. It ain't easy, but losing is not an option for anyone with a functioning brain. Sorry, my friend, but you just don't have a better idea. No matter how many times you read the DNC propaganda.

How do people go from predicting losses by the tens of thousands to whining about less than 3,000 dead in over 4 years?

I'll give you a hint: It ain't about whether we are winning or losing. It's about Dems not being in charge of the war.

I thank God every day that George W. Bush was in charge on 9/11/01, instead of AlGore the rapidly expanding purveyor of bullshit.
