Inasmuch as many of us announce when we plonk someone, I thought it
fair to announce that all those in my filters are coming out.

I came to this group in 99 with the express purpose of learning about
RV stuff, and maybe sharing what little knowledge I might have that
might be useful.

My one greatest failing has been the temptation to indulge in
political/religious/philosophical debates. A temptation common here
among many. That begat's hard feelings among many, including me. It
also obscures what I originally came here for.

I have tried several different methods to avoid it over the years, and
get back to the original purpose. All have failed.

Linus's post on Generator exhaust pointed this out to me with stark
reality. A great tip that I would have missed had it not been quoted.

So... I'm going to give it one more college try, and see if I can make
it work for me. If not, it'll be time to admit that I'm a political
groupaholic, and walk away for good.

In that attempt, I will use my filters vigorously, but only to filter
OT threads, not people.

Thanks, Linus, for making me think about this.

Tom

It's been interesting reading the comments on this topic. I think in the
time I've been here, I've used the "plonk" comment 2 or 3 times, but my
memory could be, and has been faulty. I use my filter, and use it privately.
I also filter on subject from time to time. Even though I've been quiet
lately, I've been reading, and reading most everyone, and the majority of
the posts.

If you like, for any reason, the political/OT subjects, learn to have fun
with them, and quite taking this stuff personal. :-)
