Re: OT Border Patrol in prison

The simple fact is that, in many areas, the majority of the workers for
roofing companies are all illegals and the Border Patrol has been aware of
this for decades. The garment industry would fold if *their* illegals were
to
be deported. Vegetable farming would fold if *their* illegals were to be
rounded up.

Additionally, the bulk of the Congresscritters have *at least* 1 illegal
working *in their home* as maid, gardener, cook, chauffer, etc.

The last time we had this discussion, I came to the conclusion that the
border itself is a secondary consideration - necessary in the grand scheme,
but secondary. The real problem is employment. We need a method of
enforcing employment regulations so that illegals cannot get work. Right
now they hold "semi-legitimate" employment because they are able to use fake
ID cards and social security numbers. There is no way for most employers to
determine if a person is legal or not if he presents an ID and SS card, and
he would probably be sued if he asked. With some sort of fool proof
identification system, employers could be held accountable for hiring.
Right now, it is up to the cops and courts to prove "criminal intent." If
he can show his books and has checked IDs and SS cards, he will probably be
safe from prosecution. (Unless he is really stupid and admits he knowingly
hired illegals.) If we could eliminate (or, at least, significantly reduce)
employment opportunities, many (perhaps most) illegals would stay home.
That would make border protection feasible.

Of course, as a secondary course of action, we should strong arm the Mexican
government into opening up their country to more American investment. As
long as big business is going to outsource anyway, they should have a good
reason to move to Mexico (not China) where putting people to work will keep
them out of the US.
