Why? Were the dunut crumbs attracting deer and putting dents the
cars of the feds?
The local yokels should have a bake sale to finance Barney and his
pals; not hold up transient traffic.
Don't you believe in the localizing of control as much as possible in
order that the little people will have the most say in their
government as possible?
You're trying to control people who don't live in your burg but are
just passing through.
It depends on what they are toting and how fast. We don't have the right
to search private individual humans, but I'll be damned if I'll let
fictitious persons like corporations and governments tote nuclear waste
right through the middle of our little town with out a good old fashioned
pat down. Oh wait. Would that mean we would be frisking nuclear materials
without sophistocated protection?
Let Barney hassle the locals and let the sheriff and the state patrol
deal with freeway traffic. We don't need 3 layers of enforcement,
ESPECIALLY since the locals are only interested in revenue enhancement
and not freeway safety.
Why should we trust the empire with the welfare of the peasantry? Show me
examples in history suggesting the wisdom of that, please.
Say: You don't want to take us back to the days of taxation without
representation or do you?
Please. That is exactly what you are supporting if you want locals
arresting the out of state tourists. Besides the word will get out
and no passing tourist will even get off the freeway to buy gas or eat
a doughnut.
No, we respect individuals. What we don't respect is fictitious persons
porting nuclear waste and experimental military weapons around our town's
perimeter for a little testing on the peasantry.
Next thing you know some hick town with an empty treasury will put
up a toll booth.
Better them than the feds should do it, right?
The feds aren't doing it.
Are you sure? Well, if they aren't, the sure are planning on it.
Aren't they already using unique identifiers in cars and sensors on
toll lanes to detect unpaid usage and mail fines? Well, if not, they
are planning on it.
Which federal agency is running toll booths? All the ones I'm
familiar with are run by the states.
I don't know. If they aren't yet, they are planning on it. Have you heard
of the NAFTA superhighway with its slated ports in Kansas City and Twin
Cities running down the middle of the USA with terminuses at Mexico and
Canada. I hear the Texas portion is already being built.
And even if it is being done in the name of a state, it could turn
federal at any time. There's little distinction these days between
federal and state--nor between public and private partnerships for that
matter.
Ya gots to step in early to head off this bull*** where small
towns look at the freeway as a revenue source.
Let's just face up to the real reason, shall we? The Bush family oil
empire is tired of losing revenue to slow driving and they blame the
presence of the local police for their depressed profits.
I don't think one layer of tinfoil will do the job. I saw some of
Coronado's steel helmets the other day. They look pretty sturdy.
Maybe you could have a metalsmith craft one for you.
Why don't I just get a Coronado one?
They no longer produce that model. You could try stealing one but
what if the NPS lady has a Glock in her desk?
No wonder our children are so confused: Mom is too busy shooting the
paranoid for the satanists to raise her very own.
