Local traffic enforcement on the Interstate system is a hazard to
traffic. I doubt any local funds are used for building or
maintaining I-40 so why should your small town cops have any
jurisdiction on it? LZ


Bleckley Co is the next county up from Dodge Co (my haunt). Bleckley
has 1.6 miles of I-16 within its borders. Bleckley Co sheriff's
deputies spend a good bit of time on that little strip snatching
speeding fine revenue out of the jaws of the GSP.

I gathered from the article that the feds are okay with the Sheriff's
dept patrolling I-40 but the small town donut-dunkers should stay the
hell off.

Why? Were the dunut crumbs attracting deer and putting dents the cars of
the feds?

Next thing you know some hick town with an empty treasury will put up
a toll booth.

Better them than the feds should do it, right?

Ya gots to step in early to head off this bull*** where small towns
look at the freeway as a revenue source.

Let's just face up to the real reason, shall we? The Bush family oil
empire is tired of losing revenue to slow driving and they blame the
presence of the local police for their depressed profits.
