Local traffic enforcement on the Interstate system is a hazard to traffic. I doubt any local funds are used for building or maintaining I-40 so why should your small town cops have any jurisdiction on it?

Bleckley Co is the next county up from Dodge Co (my haunt). Bleckley has 1.6 miles of I-16 within its borders. Bleckley Co sheriff's deputies spend a good bit of time on that little strip snatching speeding fine revenue out of the jaws of the GSP.

Up the road on I-75, we have Forsyth in Forsyth Co. About 1.5 miles runs through the Forsyth city boundaries. It's common to see cops, deputies, and GSP all gathered in the median there. Since I never see them engaged in fisticuffs with each other, I guess they've worked out some kind of sharing plan.
