There are not a lot of Co's in the country making automotive type LA batteries. All the brands you see come from these few Co's. Lead is very heavy so shipping cost are a concern. Battery Co's (brands) may in fact contract with various supplying Co's to build their product depending upon where in the country you are. Same brand may may come from a different mfgr depending upon location and who has the contract this yr.

No magic in the mfg process so no one brand has a big advantage over another. Warranty time is as good an indicator as brand for qlty IMO.

In this area Johnson controls has a factory and most batteries around here come from that plant regardless of brand on the battery. If one looks close on the label you just might see who actually made the battery. I see a lot of batteries around here and somewhere on the battery it says Johnson controls. Johnson control has a web site and the last time I looked they listed all the brands they make batteries for. You might be surprised.
