My neighbor bought a 5th wheel trailer a year ago and just got around to
using it this past weekend. I helped him de-winterize it and make sure
everything was running properly. I then gave him the standard lecture
about tailgates. I explained the purpose of a v-notch gate in keeping you
from accidently crushing the tail gate...making connecting and
disconnecting easier. No fuel savings...that kinda lecture.

Then I go home and prepare to work on my old truck. Mind you...this is
not my tow vehicle and does not even have a 5er hitch installed. But I
want to back it into the side yard where I can work on it behind the
fence. To close the gate I have to back the truck underneath the 5er
overhang. With the tailgate open I can't get far enough back to close the
gate so I close the gate and back in some more. I'm still about two inchs
long and can't close the gate. SO I pull the truck out to work on it in
the drive way. BOOM! Tailgate gets ripped off the truck!

Now...what are the freakin odds? Less than 2 hours after giving the
lecture to my neighbor I pull this crap!

I guess it's a good excuse to buy a v-notch gate for the old pickup. If I
do that the wife is sure to tell me I should just get a hitch installed so
I can use the old truck to pull the 5er out to hunting camp. Sounds like
a plan! Almost makes me think I crushed the tailgate on purpose. LOL

So where do I get my membership card?

Welcome to the club. At least you did it to the OLD truck. Mine was
one week old.
