Hi Gang,

I'm stumped. No computer problems for a couple of years but now it's
acting up a bit.

Programs keep going "Not responding"

I'm wondering if my firewall is causing the problems. I have the
Microsoft firewall turned ON. I'm running XP Pro.

Everytime I boot up a bubble pops up warning me my computer may be at
risk and I should turn the firewall on... only it is on.

Yesterday I got a message about Dr. Watson's postmortem debugger /-:

I did a system restore back a month and everything is working okay
now, except the firewall.

I ran a virus scan, I use AVG. It scanned for 7 hours and found no
virus.

What's up with the firewall problem, how do I convince the laptop that
the firewall is turned on?

Hunter

Hunter, I hope this helps.
Dr. Watson apparently is a part of Windows. Got this from Windows Help and
Support:

Using Dr. Watson
Dr. Watson detects information about system and program failures and records
the information in a log file.

In the event of a program error, Dr. Watson starts automatically.

Open Dr. Watson.

Notes

a.. To open Dr. Watson, click Start, and then click Run. In the Open box,
type drwtsn32.
b.. Dr. Watson cannot prevent errors from occurring, but the information
recorded in the log file can be used by technical support personnel to
diagnose the problem.
c.. For information about using Dr. Watson, click Help in Dr. Watson.
d.. For more information, click Related Topics.
