It is fascinating that some consider line voltage adjustment to be
critical. I've never found it so. Adding devices to protect against it
adds another level of complexity on a RV already complex enough.
Everything in my box will stop operating as protection against low
voltage. High voltage doesn't occur outside of lightning.
There are other ways you can get high voltage. I once worked on a house
that happened to be near where a drunk slammed into a power pole. Pretty
much all of their electrical equipment had been fried.
If you want to protect against God's determination to smite you, then buy
the stuff. After all is said and done, I bet God wins.
I suppose that if you attribute lightning strikes to the will of an all
powerful being this would be true. If you see it as random events caused by
the forces of nature--not so true. It's monsoon season here. It seems like
every year around this time I talk to at least one person who had expensive
gear fried by lightning. This year I've talked to several and the season
isn't over yet. Maybe your God just hates computers.
