Half of the North Slope oil production in Alaska is shutting down
today. That is about 8% of the US production.<<<
Instead of shutting down the pipeline for a year or 2 while they fix it,
why don't they let it run, fix any leaks that might occur and build
another pipeline right next to the old one, on temporary supports.
When the new pipeline is finished...THEN shut down the pipeline, remove
the old pipe, roll the new pipe into place and turn on the oil.

It is only 12 miles of pipe. they built 500 miles of the Alyeska pipeline
in 8 months.
