Presumably, the 30 amp breaker is protecting something with a 30 amp limit
or is wired with the gauge of wire that has a 30 amp limit. Does
replacing
the breaker with a 40 amp one defeat the design? (putting in a penny
instead of a fuse trick?)
So is the Charge Wizard meant to charge through that 30 amp breaker as
designed or has it been installed in the wrong place? ISTR the CW comes
as
a separate item, so was there a chance for a mistake there?
I would ask tech support . And go to a dealer's and look at a rig that has
one like yours and see if it is the same way or what the difference is.

Barry
Something does not sound right. I certainly have not seen *all* the ways
these things are wired, but the few I have seen have an output lead from the
charger, of the appropriate size wire going directly to the battery bank via
an in-line fuse or resettable link. This circuit is for the charger output
only. The house battery bank output is usually wired to several breakers,
each of the size appropriate for their individual branch circuits and
wiring.
The way the wiring was described in this case indicates a breaker working
both ways ... which it will ... but is normally not done in my experience.
Normally breakers have a line side and a load side. In this situation. both
sides are line and both sides are load. Correct me if I am wrong, but this
does not sound like something that was professionally installed.
Was the RV purchased new? Did a previous owner install the charger as a
retrofit? I have a hunch it was. The charger should have it's own wiring
protection ... breaker, fuse or resettable link, sized for the charger
output only.
