Despite that ridiculous claim, it's a good thing most of us are

I hold that "moderate" implies a willingness to try to see some merit in
all points of view and then come up with something that works for the
largest number of people. It's the way a democracy operates -- or
should, anyway.

The extremists at both ends are the ones who make this so difficult.

The extremists are what makes it possible. Extremists fight, cajole, bribe, etc. until a compromise is reached. The process doesn't need "moderates" at all.


The extremists make nothing possible, except war, dissension, and
destruction. Virtually all of human conflict has it's roots in
extremism. It is a blight on the planet.
