Re: The rain in Colorado, falls mainly in the Mountains.

Well, not usually. We're here in Canon City, and it's rained every day we've been here. Thunder, lightning, sprinkles, and downright torrents. Yesterday it rained so hard that the dry gully in the middle of the CG turned into a rushing stream. The CG is built, running downhill from US-50. Every site is "mostly" level, with a fair space between each site. It was raining so hard that the water running downhill, under the MH, swamped the mats outside the steps. Couldn't see them at all. One of the hardest rains I've seen, but it only lasted for about an hour.

Part of my plans for this area was to buy a fishing license, and spend some time tempting trout, but the water in the rivers and streams is brown. Too dirty to even try. A few days ago I was commenting on how happy I was to be in a dryer climate. Arrrrgggg.

Oh, we're in a pretty good storm right now. It rolled in from the South. Lots of lightning, thunder and rain, rain, rain. Nearest lighting strike, so far, was 2 seconds away. Close enough to get my attention. :-)

It hasn't stopped us, except for the fishing, and I'll get that in while I'm in Gunnison and Montrose.

Bob, I feel your pain. We went to Taylorsville CA to check out the Blackhawk Solar Cook-Off this last weekend. Don decided to buy a cooker and we whipped up a stew to cook. At noon it was clear skies and blazing sun. At 3pm a little cloud covered the sun. It grew bigger and bigger, the wind came up, other clouds joined it and soon it was thunder storm city. Hail, wind, and cool, cool rain. Our stew spent some time in the oven in the trailer and came out great. Didn't put a damper on the festivities, just damped down the dust. Good thing it was more of a community cook-in and not a real contest.

Mary, who has a new solar panel and controller as well
