To me it seems a sad day when folks have to do that, i.e. travel far and
wide to get a good hospital.
When my wife needed a hip I went to Baylor instead of the nearer place I
went to for mine. The difference was astounding. She was in on Wednesday
and out on Saturday. My experience was a lot lengthier.
Of course there were other factors but I think Baylor was much superior.

Although Janet didn't say, I assumed she went to Houston to go to M D
Anderson Hospital which is a major cancer treatment center. You won't find
their type of facilities and staff at many places in the US.

I don't think your wife's experience is all that unusual. Last winter when
were in the lower Rio Grande Valley, a neighbor in the RV park had her hip
replaced. We saw her walking down the street, using a walker, about 5 days
after her surgery. She was in a 5th wheel so she had up and down even
inside her RV. We were amazed at how well she got around so quickly after
surgery!

People who are sick are traveling to the major hospitals. The RV park I
am in is 98% full and they say about 75-80% of the campers are here for
medical reasons. Just taking an evening walk through the park is like
going to a support group session <g>. Seriously, people are very friendly
and encouraging. There is a free shuttle to the hospitals. Free WiFi and
cable and a phone room with free phones for local calls. The park really
caters to campers with medical needs.

I have a PET scan tomorrow. I have to eat steak for supper.

Today I got the Dish set up. Found a hole in the trees with my new
spotting toy. It's nice to have Dish 500. The cable only has 78 channels,
and some aren't clear. I missed my satellite TV.

Janet
