Winnebago has reported a drop of 15-20% in sales and has issued layoff
notices for the first time in 10 years. Fleetwood has reported sales
decline of 15%. If lower income rv'ers are affected the worst by
higher fuel prices, then maybe the lower priced rv parks will be the
first to die off ; people with more disposable income will still be
able to travel for a while yet. Ponder the look of life with gas @
$5.00 - $10.00 gallon ; don't laugh, people never though we would be
paying $3.00 gallon! If you have the chance to watch a show on the
Documentry channel titled " The End of Suburbia ", watch it!!
Yes, and the 'experts' were saying gasoline was going up to $5 a gallon
during the shortage in the mid to early 70s. After that it took 30 years to
get up to $3 a gallon. Of course the left coast knows best and usually has
the highest gasoline prices, which they deserve.
I can't imagine any RVer staying home because fuel will cost a few dollars
more than last year. Fuel isn't the big cost, depreciation, insurance,
licensing, repairs and maintenance are the biggies and most of them continue
even when you leave the RV parked at home!
