It seems to me, since the pawn shop bought stolen goods.... the thief
should owe them the money.

$100.00 to get my generator out of hock. Cheaper than a new one of
course, but still. I will pay it of course, but grudgingly. $25.00
for the drill. Not sure what the saw will cost.
This is new to me, but isn't receiving stolen property a crime?
