They've already simplified the tax returns so much that I can't do
them by hand any more.
Yep, I'm old enough to remember doing income tax returns with nothing
but a pencil.
My father, who retired as an accountant in '81, did his ledgers in pen.
When he bothered to reconcile his checkbook, he used a calculator, then
checked his results with pen and paper.
I used to watch him add columns of numbers then full height of ledger
paper by running his finger down the column at a speed faster than I
could just read the numbers.
