Escapees question

After long and diligent searching, studying and comparing, I have
about decided that I want to join Escapees. Only one question
remains, and I'll decide. Nowhere on the forms, online or elsewhere,
do I find a block to check 'hugging' or 'nonhugging'. Is that
something that will be added later, maybe in some kind of special
badge or pin or such, visible immediately upon meeting some other SKP?
Is 'hugging' the default, or is it the other way around?
