Running only needed startup items is good advice to alleviate slow
startups. While at it... take a look at System Services. Seems to be
myriad items there that all do not need to be running. Rather than say
what I've done/unchecked, maybe the "real" gurus will have some
advice.
PCs have too much clutter as they get used. Reminds me of a utility
room corner I just cleaned out. Unbelievable what useless and/or
unneeded stuff can accumulate!
