Unfortunately that would require me to spend another 4 or 500 bucks or
so for another GPS unit.

Is the program Mapsource?
http://forums.gpscity.com/archive/index.php?t-1545.html

No, it's MapSend Directroute North America. The program reads the
header info on the CD, something that apparently making an ISO copy, a
regular copy, or copying to the hard drive doesn't duplicate.

I found a reference where XP SP2 screws up the reading of this header. I
also found another reference to changing a bit in the program executable
with a hex editor, but I can't find the bit.

So I guess I'm stuck with carrying the Data CD around every where I go
if I want to ad or subtract maps or just even run the friggin program to
look at waypoint.

Hah!!!!! I got it fixed. http://freightyard.net/projects/MagellanGPS/
The hex edit option. Now when I hit cancel it goes ahead and starts the
program. I've been digging on this for about four hours. Google is
defiantly your friend.

Yabut.... Now I have to go out and buy the damn thing.... Got my
juices flowing again.

Tom

Go with Garmin. Magellan is the most consumer unfriendly company I've
ever tried to deal with. Besides, after reading 500 or so messages in
alt.satellite.gps, the consensus there is that Garmin has moved ahead of
Magellan in usable handhelds.
