I know it's futile to ask, but I'll do it anyway <g> -- please help me
by keeping your advice, suggestions, and comments on track and in tight
focus. It won't do me any good at all to read a long discussion on which
of the various computers on the world market is better than which other,
or why. All I need to know is which particular computer (or brand) that
CIRCUIT CITY sells do you think I consider, and what specific features
should I look for, if they're available.

I like Toshiba, my experiences with them so far have been good. And I have
also been hearing good things about HP laptops for the past couple of years,
it's a brand that has improved in quality. I do know of several online
acquaintances who are using Acers and like those, they don't seem to have
trouble with them.

One thing that you might want to consider is that the next version of
Windows (Vista) is coming out next January. If you might be wanting to
upgrade to it, then you'll defiantly want a system that has at least a gig
of RAM, a very high end processor and a top quality graphics chipset. Even
though you aren't into gaming or heavy multimedia applications, I would go
that direction anyway to "future proof" the purchase. The idea there is that
the hardware is high end enough that it will remain useful and be able to
handle software for the next several years.
