Thanks.
Have decided to sign up with Cingular, where I got a phone for a 2 year
contract. No internet connectivity. Will rely on finding WiFi along the
road.
Why would you make that choice when there are other choices that *will*
give you Internet connectivity through the phone?
Because, David, time is of the essence. I will be leaving on a month's trip
next Wednesday and want to have a working cellphone with me. Just don't
have enough time for research and getting hardware.
If a local provider here would have been able to supply phone, data link
cable, and drivers, fine. But an incredibly snotty Verizon told me to blow
$250 on a Blackberry, while Sprint was too incompetent to be helpful.
Further, Cingular has a good plan, a free phone, and a tower right here on
the island so that, for the first time since we moved here, I have more than
2 bars.
Also, based on the discussions here regarding WiFi, I anticipate that I'll
be able to find a signal from time to time. I really don't need to get my
e-mail daily.
