Have you ever considered prayer as part of your "weight reduction
program"? I don't see how there could be any "complications" from
it......
Here's a "special prayer" you can use for when you say "Grace" before
supper...

"Lord
Thank you for the chance to partake of thy bounty, and I hope others
can have full tables too!
Give me the strength, to resist the temptation of well marbled
steaks, the size of a phone book...
Guide my hands away from second helpings of mashed potatoes, anointed
from the gravy tureen....
Deliver me, from plates full of ice cream, and pecan pie, covered
in whipped cream, with extra nuts....
Thou knowest the shame I bear, when I have to unbottonth my britches,
after eating like a hog!
Amen

How does that sound?

Lol.

Sounds like the last wail of the Lost, being sucked down into
Hell.

I haven't got that desperate yet. I haven't really even gone on
a diet. I'm just working out, mostly whether I want to or not.
And I am slimmer, regardless of the weight. I am down to 252,
and went out and bought some new pants the other day.

Gee, that was special.

By the way, be careful of that Abs wheel Lon recommended. The
first time I used it I thought I had given myself a hernia. And
the second time, I did pull something in my shoulder. But if you
go easy, and once you get used to it, it is a terrific toner. If
anyone wants to lose an inch or so in his waist in 5 minutes, try
one of these babies.

But not the first time you use it.

The hardest thing about changing your body is just the patience
it takes. I know intellectually that it's going to take 6 or 8
months to undo years of self indulgence, but after exercise
sometimes I can see the outline of what is to be, and think I'm
almost there.

Sigh. It's just the outline. Not even a rough draft.

But I am stronger. I can tell that just by the weights I use,
and the reps. It is an act of faith, but not entirely blind.

As for prayer, I think Bryan hit it on the head. It's not for
the one prayed for, but for the one praying. That is, when it's
not all just for show. And only you will know.

So it's basically a selfish act, giving up the self. Now there's
a conundrum.

"That's not why I pray, Harry. I pray because I can't help
myself. I pray because I'm helpless. I pray because the need
flows out of me all the time, waking and sleeping. It doesn't
change God, it changes me."

"Shadowlands".
