As I have mentioned here, I am interested in finding a cellphone that connects to the laptop via a USB port.
My service provider of 8 years, Sprint, recommended a phone, the Samsung A840. Bought it, bought the cable, and agreed to a 2 year service plan.
It turns out that the use of the phone as a modem is not supported by Sprint, although the Samsung web site indicates that it is.
After spending six hours on the phone with various Sprint technical support people, I finally gave up and cancelled Sprint.
Researching the offerings of Verizon, I do not see a phone that is Internet Phone --> PC supported.
Any suggestions? Mind you, 2 requirements: (1) USB connectivity, and (2) driver and dialer software to use the phone as a modem.
I have a Motorola V276 on Verizon. Verizon sells a Mobile Office kit for it that includes setup software and a driver and the USB cable. There are several other phones that will work with Verizon. Try subscribing to InternetByCellPhone, a Yahoo! Group. Download the tutorials and it will list which phones are recommended. Don't ask any questions. The moderator is less than nice to newbies who might, heaven forbid, ask a question that's been answered in the tutorials.
