Re: OT - Marriage and Parenting according to Harry

Wonder what the kid replies when asked about his parents ...

He says, accurately, "My parents are dead. I was adopted by two smart,
educated, talented, loving womenn who are devoted to me.

Wonder where he gets a father-son relationship, or some sort of
masculine influence?

From teachers, coaches, male relatives of the loving couple who adopted
him, etc.

Wonder if he considers Ellen Degeneris, Jody Foster, or Marina
Navratilova role models?

I hope so, because all are fine people who have led fine lives while
accomplishing much.

Wonder what he thinks of a normal - as in one man, one woman -
marriage in comparison to his living arrangements?

Normal means only "what most people are or do." Most people are
hetero. So?

Most people are also in the bottom 80% of intelligence, athletic
skills, education, contribution to society, and so on. They're the
ones who constantly insist that "normal" is good, and that's probably
why you do. "Abnormal" isn't necessarily bad.

The kid's choice of a mate will be driven by his genes, not by the
gender of those who raised him.

Without exception, homosexuals are the product of heterosexual
relationships. Should we ban heterosexual relationships and/or
heterosexual marriage because of that?

Wonderful, and thank gawd none of my business, but I feel sorry for
the kid. Lost both his parents and never had the opportunity
afterwards to experience a regular childhood.

"Regular" -- like "normal" -- is only what most kids experience. Many
kids experience stupid parents, uneducated parents, unemployed parents,
alcoholic parents, abusive relationships, divorce, single parenthood,
and so on. This kid sure missed out on all that "regular" upbringing
-- and I'm damn glad he did.

I think Canoli should hit the web. If he does, he'll find that every
scientific study shows that kids raised by lesbian couples are every
bit as well raised as those with "normal" or "regular" upbringings, and
that most studies show that kids raised by lesbian couples have
distinct advantages.
