Once again:
Questions:
(1) How and why do these posts get around my set 200-line limit?
(2) What can I do to stop them?

I have Agent 3.0 set up to show only lines, subject, author, date and
time, no message bodies on initial d/l. Once I click on the icon to
show all posts concerning the initial d/l, I get lines, author, date
and time, again no message bodies. That allows me to elect to open
messages or not, while also avoiding specific authors (I don't often
use filters).
I've noticed that many of the long-winded political posts show 0 for
number of lines, which perhaps allows them to slide by your settings.
Too, they are generally from unknown people, posting via anonymous
email. They remind me of TV's Unknown Comic, prattling nonsense with
a paper bag over his head.
You can stop them easily enough by ignoring or deleting any initial
header that shows either zero or an inordinately large number of
lines.

Yabut.... He said he downloads messages and headers all at the same
time. I don't know why, maybe he reads them offline, I suppose. Like
you, I only download headers, then each message downloads if I want to
read it.

No, Agent downloads the overview, (headers), compares them to the filter
settings, then downloads the bodies of messages it's supposed to,
marking read any that match the filters. It should not download the
body of any header that shows more than 200 lines. That's not a filter.
