I gave up on inserts after just one experience. We use spay-in liners
from "Diamond Liners" (http://www.diamondliners.com/) with
satisfaction. The local dealer also warrants them as "indestructible"
and will repair any area that may cause a problem (we had a touch-up
done when somebody dragged a spool of barbed wire across the bed and
left some scratch marks). They are available in any color you might
want. About $350 for a typical pickup. I've even seen folks spray the
stuff on their rocker panels, bumpers, and fenders for protection
against brush and rocks.

I had this stuff:

sprayed in the bed of a pickup I had. Excellent stuff. Tough as hell and
virtually indestructible even when shoveling stuff out of the bed. Seems
like it was about $350 as well.
