What you don't seem to grasp, is that the AC and DC systems aren't
necessarily anywhere near each other, and are two independent systems.

Our present fifth wheel is the first RV we've had which has them side
by side.

In most RVs, the only thing they have in common is that the
"converter" plugs into AC, and converts AC to DC, and can both,
charge the batteries, and supply 12 volt to 12 volt appliances and lights.

An "inverter", uses DC power (from the batteries) and converts that to
AC, so you can run the AC appliances when you don't have hookups.

A quality inverter can protect the entire AC system from miswired
sources of electricity, can provide complete information regarding how
much power is being used, can provide compete information regarding
the condition of the battery bank, and can protect against power
surges, as well as charging the batteries when AC power hookups are
available.
A cheap inverter can provide AC to run a few small loads, and little
else.
In other words, the Converter utilizes AC power to provide DC.
The Inverter utilizes DC power to provide AC.

Only the Inverter, or the AC power panel, is capable of having AC
circuit breakers which would trip when running electric heaters.

The DC fuse panel is connected down stream (or in the converter, in
the case of very old RVs) from the Converter.

IMHO, the OPs problem lies either in having the Inverter improperly
configured, or in having the breaker panel loaded too heavy on one
side. Bob's questions were designed to figure out which.

If Boyd Brainless would shut the hell up and quit confusing the issue,
the OP might get some accurate and safe help.

In fact, IMHO, so long as Boyd Brainless keeps posting to this
newsgroup, the dog shit to chocolate ratio leans way too far toward
dog shit. People ask reasonable questions and get dangerous and stupid
answers from a nitwit so stupid that he doesn't know that he doesn't
know.

Now why the hell did you have to go and give him all the answers. <g>
