But then, I'm strictly a "Buy American" type of guy --- mainly because I like the knowledge that there are a lot of people out there who know how to fix a Ford or GM van.
Carl, what ever gave you the idea that Ford & GM are strictly American? I can take just 4 foreign made parts out of any model you select since 1972 of either & it won't move. Besides, many models from both companies are Foreign assembled.

You are absolutely right. Indeed my Ford Econoline 157 van was made in Canada.
My "Buy American" was explained by the "I like the knowledge that there are a lot of people out there who know how to fix a Ford or GM van."
Ever tried to get a VW-based camper fixed in Arkansas? I've found Ford mechanics all over the place, but few dealers who can service a M-B diesel engine.
