Nature of the beast in any sport, not just football.

Different sport, but when I coach kids, I try to teach them to simply
ignore the officials. So far as I can tell, the officials in any sport
are like all the other fixtures of the field -- sorta necessary evils at
best. So don't run into them, don't step on them, just play your game and
hope that the opponents are the ones that screw themselves up by getting
all hot and bothered by the inevitable miscalls.
