After installing software did you run the Wizard?
Try uninstalling the software. Turn off all programs and reinstall..... don't install Venturi.
Call *611 and see if you are actually in a Verizon area.

I uninstalled Venturi, and when I tried to connect to Quick 2 Net, I got an error message saying something like "The connection is looking for information from you, but the the application does not allow user input." I might have seen that error message once before. To me, that suggests something missing in the authentication process. The computer screen says "Authenticating" right before it says "Not connected".
Then I uninstalled the VZAccess Manager and reinstalled it, without Venturi, and it would again connect and immediately disconnect. (This is still from my home, where *228 just produces an error message. I will try it again later from somewhere else).
I called *611 and the message said Verizon Wireless. I am sure that I am in a Verizon wireless area, just that my local cell site is lacking something (has lacked it for months). I live within the city limits, and I can drive 5 miles and get to a Verizon store (a free standing Verizon factory store, which handles warranty returns, you name it).
Relative to Lou's questions, I have restarted (turned on and off) my phone and my computer more than once. I also tried both National Access and Quick 2 Net, generally with exactly the same result.
At this rate, I will give it another day or two, see what other ideas people come up with, and once the available fonts of wisdom have been exhausted, I will probably try to return the mobile office kit. Doing Google and Yahoo searches have not turned up anything helpful, and the troubleshooting screens seem to talk about weak signals, which is not the case here, I have three or four bars.
I did receive one private message from someone who reported what appears to be the same problem that I have. He had it working at one point, and then did not use it for a few months, and it no longer worked after that. I understand that he has never gotten it working again.
Frustrating, of course. I usually consider myself an OK hacker, and recently got my windows laptop to print wirelessly to a USB printer connected to my Mac. But I really don't like to hack, and am more familiar with the Mac OS than Windows XP.
