Kerry made deals with the Viet Cong in Paris. He qualifies as a traitor.
OK, now I understand your thinking. Kerry betrayed the Whiz Kids cause by opposing their traitorous activities, making him a traitor.
Errr, no. He engaged in traitorous ACTIVITIES, which made him fit the definition of a traitor.
a man who volunteered for hazardous duty on
Riverine craft, saw actual combat and was even wounded
At the time Kerry volunteered it was a low-risk posting.
Riverine or Swift Boat? Which did he volunteer for? Riverine was never low-risk, I had friends serving on them. OTOH you are right about Swifties - almost as hazardous as serving on a destroyer or cruiser.
He went to Swift boats, NOT the Riverine force. Read his bio.
To be specific, he put Swifts as his first choice, and PBR's (Riverene) for his second choice.
Prove it.
Swifts, at the time Kerry volunteered for them, were involved in coastal patrol. Which is to say that in the whole things of things-Vietnam, Swifts were more dangerous than most. But I say that because the average "job" in Vietnam didn't have us in combat. The vast majority of guys never fired their weapon in anger. So, while the anti-Kerry crowd like to say that the Swifts Kerry volunteered for was a cush job, that isn't really true. Besides, he didn't need to volunteer for anything, but he did.
He was trying to be a JFK clone. Did you miss that?
No kidding? Exactly how many Swift Boats were lost during the 10 years of the Vietnam war? How many Swift Boat sailors were KIA?
Anyway, the Swifts became much more dangerous later. Especially where Kerry ended up going (An Thoi), where the Navy had them with almost no support whatsoever. At that point I'd have to venture a guess that they were among the highest risk jobs in all of Vietnam.
Let's see some numbers. LZ
