have you shopped group coverage like AARP? i wonder if their group
rates are less. i don't like their politics but might consider going
with them for health insurance if the price and coverage is right.

i retired at 55 last august and since i was a municipal employee by
state law my employer must allow me to stay in the group as long as i
pay the premium. this is an individual policy from blue cross/blue
shield (illinois) HMO that costs me nearly $4800 a year. once my wife
retires next year we'll re-evaluate our insurance coverage. she has
her own bcbs policy with her employer (state govt). we'll be able to
see which is less expensive to keep or if we need to go shopping.
