| Sorry I wasn't more clear in my original message. The child's toy (Cotton
| Candy maker) was purchased here in the US and is designed to run on AC
110V
| / 60 Hz and I need it to run on AV 220 / 50 Hz. So yes, I need to step
down
| from 220V to 110V. It's uses an AC motor.

Need to be careful of the motor as most 60 Hz motors are not tolerant of 50
Hz power. Long story short 50 Hz power on a 60 Hz motor = HEAT!!! Might be
cheaper to use a 12 VDC inverter with an output of 120@ 60 Hz and a dc power
supply that accepts 220 50 Hz with an output of 12-14 VDC. Most computer
power supplies will do the job and they are typically designed to accept
50-60 Hz power from 100 to 250 VAC. I would look for an older computer at a
swap meet or junk shop.

You could use a standard battery to replace the 220 to 12 V power supply but
I'd hesitate with adults and never consider the process with kids involved.

Might look at the lable on the motor. It could be a duel frequency motor so
a step down transformer would do the job. Also do a google search on the
motor and toy manufacture as there may be a simple adjustment to allow for
the various places the toy might be sold.
